This course brings to fore the numerous challenges of Information Technology on the areas of cybercrimes, intellectual property, information and critical infrastructure security, professional ethics and IT policy legislation. It discusses the concepts, tools and techniques needed to combat the social menace caused by the misuse of the computer and internet technology. The course also covers the roles of government agencies both at the local and international levels to address the challenges. Though CSC319 is an elective course, the knowledge gleaned from participating in it will assist and equip students to stay safe and practice computing within relevant legal frameworks.
